Job Description: Unity Developer (VR Game Development)
We are looking for a skilled Unity Developer to join our team for the rapid development of a new multiplayer VR game inspired by classic surf mechanics. Your primary focus will be to deliver a functional prototype within one month, concentrating on core gameplay mechanics and a single multiplayer map.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Core Gameplay Development:
Design and implement complex physics-based movement and interactions within a VR environment.
Develop responsive and intuitive player control systems, including movement mechanics, collision detection, and interaction with dynamic objects.
Work on gameplay features that require precise physics simulation and real-time response in a multiplayer setting.
Multiplayer Networking:
Implement and optimize multiplayer networking features, ensuring seamless synchronization of player actions and game states.
Develop systems for player interactions, including competitive and cooperative gameplay elements.
Handle server-side logic, match-making, and game session management.
VR Integration:
Adapt traditional game mechanics for VR, focusing on hand controller input, motion tracking, and player comfort.
Implement VR-specific features like smooth movement, teleportation, snap turning, and field-of-view adjustments to enhance user comfort and reduce motion sickness.
Customization and Monetization:
Develop systems for in-game customization, allowing players to personalize their experience with various items and cosmetic options.
Integrate microtransaction functionality and manage in-game economies to support ongoing game development.
Optimization and Testing:
Optimize game performance to ensure a smooth and immersive experience in VR, focusing on frame rate stability, latency reduction, and resource management.
Conduct extensive testing and debugging to identify and resolve performance issues, bugs, and inconsistencies.
Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Unity or Unreal Engine with extensive experience in VR game development.
Strong understanding of physics simulation and game physics, particularly in a multiplayer context.
Expertise in multiplayer networking, including client-server architecture, synchronization, and latency management.
Familiarity with VR hardware (e.g., Oculus, HTC Vive) and associated SDKs (e.g., Oculus Integration, SteamVR).
Experience in game optimization techniques, including performance profiling, asset management, and real-time rendering.
Experience:
Proven experience in developing and launching VR games or significant VR modules.
Demonstrated ability to implement complex physics systems and responsive player controls.
Experience with in-game economies, customization systems, and microtransactions.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
